Q: Does the new packaging mean you’ve changed your formula?

A: We felt it was time for The Grandpa Soap Company to update our packaging utilizing sustainable packaging components while refreshing our look with more modern elements. If you review our timeline you can see the packaging evolution since the late 1800's.

Our Wonder Pine Tar soap and liquid soaps formulas have not been changed. However, we’ve refreshed the specialty line by adding some exciting new soaps with hardworking, natural ingredients.

Q: What changed with the Baking Soda Soap?

Our previous formula of Baking Soda was an unscented product. This changed with the reformulation of Baking Soda. This soap was crafted to include Epsom Salt, and infused with a composition of natural scent (determined to be natural according to the International Standard for Aromatic Natural Raw Materials (ISO 9235) and free of artificial fragrance ingredients) and Essential Oils which include Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citrus Auranitium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil.

Q: Where can I find The Grandpa Soap Company products?

A: See our Retailer Map link for listings of neighborhood health food stores, national stores and online retailers that carry Grandpa products.

Q: How do you obtain your pine tar oil?

A: Grandpa’s Pine Tar Oil is 100% pure kiln-burned Wood Tar, imported from Sweden. It is manufactured in a closed vacuum system at high temperatures that does not generate creosote and is manufactured and tested under closely controlled conditions to ensure quality and uniformity.

Q: Why isn’t the color of Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap consistent?

A: Pine tar is a natural ingredient so there may be variations in color or scent. And since we do not want to add any ingredients that aren’t necessary, we do not use stabilizers.

Q: What do you use to make the base of your soaps?

A: The base of all Grandpa’s soaps are made from coconut and palm oils.

Q: Are your soaps biodegradable?

A: Grandpa’s Soap is completely biodegradable. All surfactants used in Grandpa’s are biodegradable. This means all surfactants (sudsing/cleaning agents) are broken down into simpler compounds by natural biological action helping to eliminate sudsing/foaming problems in lakes and streams.
